cursor opens links on its own

Hi all, new guy here, so bear with me. I got my first laptop, and am having what I consider a problem. If the cursor sits over a link, it automatically opens whatever it is, with zero input from me. IE--if you are on Facebook, and the cursor sits over someones name, bang-- it goes to their home page, and it is becoming very annoying. I have gone through a number of threads here on cursor sensitivity, but really am unsure of all that I was reading. (I am a bit of a computer doofus lol). Is there someway to disable this, or am I stuck with it? Thanks for your time. Rick

Laptop has a touchpad have you looked into the settings of the touchpad ? Should be in control panel and even possibly in the notification area.
Check the sensitivity settings on touch pad also double click settings.

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Ease of Access Center\Make the mouse easier to use and make sure this option(activate a window by hovering) is unchecked.

Hi, and thanks for the replies. I did snoop around in the control panel, jds63, but nothing in there made sense to me, sadly. I did as you suggested, Cliff S, and noticed that dialog box was already off. I turned it on, hit apply, then unchecked it and applied. It seemed to do the trick, but I will see how it goes in the next few days. Many thanks to both of you. Rick

Not familiar with touchpad settings, sure might be something more there for this, YW.

You're welcome Rick, I hope it does the trick. I had a similar problem on my Win7 laptop once and that was the culprit.
