    post (after) reboot

not sure if it was a full reboot, but feels like it. for example, if I go and check my email and return to the home page I can't get the task and menu bars to show up until I go to the charms and click on start. then as far to the right till I find the control panel
click on it, and it shows up on my screen and now both of my bars show up. how do I get it back to where it opens with the
home page. I have gone to both the control panel and set it to "open at start up". think that's the right words.

bear with me here, I am trying to figure out the right words to say so you guys know what i'm talking about. and my windows 8 for dummies book is missing.
