I'm making an alarm on my computer using scheduled tasks and VLC. (I like this method because I don't need a separate piece of software.) The task runs at the appropriate time, causing VLC to open and loop my alarm song repeatedly until I manually kill the process.
I would like to set up a keyboard shortcut that allows me to do this before login. My BIOS wakes my computer up 10 minutes before the alarm goes off, and the alarm itself works correctly without anyone being logged in, but to kill the process I either have to shut the computer down or log in and shut it down that way.
Is there a way to register a custom global keyboard shortcut in Windows 8.1 Pro (x64) that will work at the login screen, and when no users are logged in?
