How can I boot directly to desktop & more...??

I would also like to delete metro in it's entirety or at least as much as possible.

Also, I have a dual monitor setup. On is my flatscreen tv, which is hooked up to the computer for home theater. I seem to have a duplicate task bar and icons on the tv, which I most certainly did not have on 7.

    Thought..??

    Thanks.

The taskbar on multiple monitors is a new feature of windows 8. you can turn the task bar off on multiple monitors. by right clicking on the taskbar selecting properties and unchecking show taskbar on all displays

disabling metro hasn't been possible since the developer preview. hopefully the option comes back for businesses or something

    Hello Rickkins.

My proposal to use hibernation as a bypass
of the metro is not suitable for most users.

I suggest the desktop tile for Windows 8.

    Today, as of this edit,
I have temporarily gone back to Vista Ultimate.

Disabling Metro is possible with the Developer's Preview. There has been a lot of hacks to do that. I still use Developer Preview now on my older machine and it has Metro disabled and it has the classic Start button orb and classic Start menu enabled. But disabling Metro was not possible with the Consumer's Preview.

I can't get it to boot direct to the desktop.

Always that damn start screen appears first.

If we can figure that out - it would make a lot of people happy.

    The desktop tile is OK.
I hope Microsoft and others add more options to customize the start screen.

    thanks

At the moment, the restarting - selecting Seven from boot menu, restart again is a huge PITA. Anyone know of a Win8 based way of Restart directly into seven, essentially skipping the double restart. I prefer the old method of select - boot. Not select - restart, boot.
