I bring up the file Save As dialogue box as shown below for a Notepad txt file.
I name it and click Save. But it is no where to be found.
Where exactly is the Folder called Libraries located?

  • OS
    Win7-8 Dual Boot on a Commodore 64
Try to see if your file is here:

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries

Libraries folders are just a shortcut to your user profile folders.

C:\users\<yourusername>\documents
C:\users\<yourusername>\pictures
C:\users\<yourusername>\music
C:\users\<yourusername>\videos

the root folder of Libraries is therefore:

C:\users\<yourusername>

Libraries are just short cuts to a particular folder. If you choose "Documents", everything will go into the Documents folder.

Mystery Solved...Thanks!

Thanks for all the replies.
I appreciated each of them very much.

I read up on it and from what I can surmise one
can only place FOLDERS into the library.

Windows itself creates the singualr 'desktop.ini' files.
So when saving a file one must first choose any of the
folders in "Libraries" and then save the file into that
chosen folder.

WHY an error message does not appear when clicking Save in my
original post screenshot is simply a minor bug or something.

Lesson learned. THANKS!

If you go to %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries in Explorer then right click, you will notice the only entry under New is Library, no other choice. That agrees with your thought above that only folders (actually links to folders) can go in there. The neat part is the folders can be on different partitions or drives. It's a nice way to organize stuff.
