Bugs in the Windows 8 Release Preview

This is a thread for everybody to share what bugs that they have found in Windows 8. My first bug is that if you shutdown with the fast startup enabled, then the system thinks it's in hibernate. This is a bug that really needs to be resolved.

So far the only bugs I have noticed are the default display adapters are incredibly sluggish over the default ones previously in the consumer preview, and alt-tab'ing out of fullscreen stuff (like games) is incredibly erratic sometimes having to alt-tab twice just to get out of the fullscreen.

A bug I have noticed is sometimes when browsing/scrolling a page or using a program Windows 8 will just suddenly freeze only allowing me to switch from start screen to desktop or lock screen but nothing else works. IE: Meto Apps/ Programs, Sign out, sleep, restart with mouse ect.

I can only restart by pressing the power button on the computer and all updates and drivers are installed. Also this has occurred on both computers I have Windows 8 Release Preview x64 installed.

I had the same problem, but once I disabled the LAN card (using wifi only), and disabled file sharing and network discovery, the problem has completely disappeared.

My only noticeable bug is in the display section of Device Manager. ALL other previous versions of Windows 8 (DP & CP) had the proper display driver. BUT now for my GeForce card is it only showing a Windows display driver. Been over to Nvidia, and downloaded the right driver, and YET after I think it is installed it comes back with a Windows Display Driver in Device Manager.

Interesting. You've made sure to install your nVidia driver right? Does your nVidia name show up under Update driver software->Browse my computer->Let me pick?

Not sure how it's done with nVidia (since I use AMD), but I get these listed:

    ATI Radeon HD 4200
ATI Radeon HD 4200 (Engineering Sample - WDDM v1.1)
    Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

"ATI Radeon HD 4200" being the default selected of course.

I also have a GeForce card and had no problems with the update. When you installed did it say anything during the compatibility check??

LOL of course NOW the whole system froze and crashed, 46 minutes after I posted So I still haven't found a solution. My only fear is if I'll someday lose important work because I forgot to save... But it's actually pretty surprising there are still so many bugs in RP. I remember the Betas and RC of Windows 7 were MUCH more stable, never crashed once...

5510We have info that Windows 8 Release Candidate will be called "Release Preview" and that will be launched sometime in late May or early June. But we must say that all these are just rumors. 5509 Source: winunleaked
I thought that I'd create a thread where we can list all bugs and annoyances that we find in WCP. I know that some are listed elsewhere on the Forums, but this should keep them all in one place. I'll start off with the following: 1) Multiple generic icons (and sometimes folder icons) appear...
