This is a thread for everybody to share what bugs that they have found in Windows 8. My first bug is that if you shutdown with the fast startup enabled, then the system thinks it's in hibernate. This is a bug that really needs to be resolved.

So far the only bugs I have noticed are the default display adapters are incredibly sluggish over the default ones previously in the consumer preview, and alt-tab'ing out of fullscreen stuff (like games) is incredibly erratic sometimes having to alt-tab twice just to get out of the fullscreen.

A bug I have noticed is sometimes when browsing/scrolling a page or using a program Windows 8 will just suddenly freeze only allowing me to switch from start screen to desktop or lock screen but nothing else works. IE: Meto Apps/ Programs, Sign out, sleep, restart with mouse ect.

I can only restart by pressing the power button on the computer and all updates and drivers are installed. Also this has occurred on both computers I have Windows 8 Release Preview x64 installed.

My only noticeable bug is in the display section of Device Manager. ALL other previous versions of Windows 8 (DP & CP) had the proper display driver. BUT now for my GeForce card is it only showing a Windows display driver. Been over to Nvidia, and downloaded the right driver, and YET after I think it is installed it comes back with a Windows Display Driver in Device Manager.

Interesting. You've made sure to install your nVidia driver right? Does your nVidia name show up under Update driver software->Browse my computer->Let me pick?

Not sure how it's done with nVidia (since I use AMD), but I get these listed:

ATI Radeon HD 4200
ATI Radeon HD 4200 (Engineering Sample - WDDM v1.1)
Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

"ATI Radeon HD 4200" being the default selected of course.

I also have a GeForce card and had no problems with the update. When you installed did it say anything during the compatibility check??

LOL of course NOW the whole system froze and crashed, 46 minutes after I posted :) So I still haven't found a solution. My only fear is if I'll someday lose important work because I forgot to save... But it's actually pretty surprising there are still so many bugs in RP. I remember the Betas and RC of Windows 7 were MUCH more stable, never crashed once...

AMD Vision Engine Control Center crashes every time I open it. Running latest version as of Friday. Luckily, it didn't start crashing upon opening until AFTER I got my scaling options changed for my display. :)

You should probably try 12.3 instead, 12.4 seems to be having a lot of widespread issues.

Can you let me know the driver you used, and website? below is what I had gotten from Nividia's driver for my card.

Have you told Windows Update to ignore the Windows Graphics driver update? Even after you have installed Nvidia GeForce drivers for Windows 8 via their site, Windows Update will still download and install the generic Windows Driver via Windows Update. This wiil override the drivers installed via the Nvidia site. My solution was to tell Win. Update to ignore the update.

This is the update that needs to be ignored:

AMD has specific drivers for Windows 8. Windows Update will try and install the old driver so you need to hide that update.

That is WHAT I tried to do, interesting thing tho, when I looked in Add New Hardware under Video Devices it only gives me Intel Video Cards, and when I tried to force the Nvidia nForce driver, it told me the best driver is already installed, and Yes this is a NVidia card, shows up under my Windows 7 as such. This has me totally blown away.
