HTTP Service service failed to start

Hi,
I hope this is the correct forum for this problem. The night of April 23 my wife's laptop running Window 8 began to experience problems with HP Connect Remote and then the Print Spooler would not start. HP recommended uninstalling HP Connect Remote, which I did. I found something to fix the Print Spooler; it appeared to be a problem with Print Spooler dependencies. I used a tool called MiniToolBox to look for other errors after the Print Spooler was fix, and it showed the following errors related to the HTTP Service, which will not start.

Error: (04/28/2015 07:34:12 AM) (Source: Service Control Manager) (User: )
Description: The HTTP Service service failed to start due to the following error:
%%1009
Error: (04/28/2015 07:34:12 AM) (Source: HTTP) (User: )
Description: \Device\Http\ReqQueueType=0 Index=2

I decided to look at Event Viewer for anything related to HTTP, and in Summary of Administrative Events I found that I have had the HttpEvent Event ID 15021 over 1900 times in the past week. The details from a error event are:
Log Name: System

I have run various virus and malware cleaners based on assistance from another forum, so I believe her laptop is now clean. This problem may have been caused by malware. I cannot find HTTP Service in the list of services for Windows 8, and I don't know if I really need it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gary
