Should there be a folder in C:/ called My Documents?

I have just reinstalled Win8 using a previously saved ISO. The reinstall has left a folder on my C:/ drive called My Documents which is empty.

I can see all my saved documents in C:/Users/pcname/My Documents and in Libraries/My Documents

I thought Win 7/8 had any saved documents put in the C:/ My Documents folder, but not absolutely sure.

Should there be a folder in C:/ called My Documents? If yes, where should it be populated from?

Any path statement in Windows uses the backslash \, not the forward slash as used in URLs.

I consider items in the Libraries as only shortcuts to data in C:\Windows\Users and my login name.

I don't have that Folder on my C:\ drive, on WinXP it would have been a subFolder in C:\Documents and Settings and user name. As long as C:\My Documents is empty I'd just delete it.

Many thanks - working with urls for too long!!
I assume that when you say I don't have that folder on my C:\ drive you have Win8 as your OS?

I have Win7, Win8.1 and Win10TP running now on desktops and notebooks, WinVista is 'resting'. A desktop and a notebook with Linux Mint 17.1 are resting for awhile.

I also don't have a C:\My Documents on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. Have never had that on any Windows install I've done which is literally a 1000+.
