After buying a new ACER V5-122P (which runs on Windows 8.1), I noticed that the ACER POWER BUTTON (which was on laptops running on Windows 8) was gone. I used to own an Acer V5-431. It had that very useful button on the taskbar, so I knew immediately what I was missing. I looked for solutions online but nothing worked. Yes, I even trried adding a one-touch power button, which didn't suit me well because I keep turning my unit off by mistake. It's just not the same.

So, for those who miss that little tool, I'm giving you my very simple solution.

What you will need:
- an ACER unit running on Windows 8
- a flash drive
- your new ACER unit running on Windows 8.1

What you will do:
1. Open both units.
2. Go to "C:\Program Files\Acer\Acer Power Management" folder of the Windows 8 unit.
3. Copy to your flash drive the file "ePowerButton.exe."
4. Paste that file to the "C:\Program Files\Acer\Acer Power Management" folder of your Windows 8.1 unit.
5. Create a shortcut. Yor computer might say that it is not possible to create shortcuts on that location. So, create the shortcut on your desktop.
6. Cut that new shortcut from your desktop and paste it to the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Acer" folder.
7. Open Start and go to All Apps. Under the Acer cluster, you can now see the power button, which you can now pin to your taskbar.

I am not sure if this button will work for other PCs on Windows 8.1. Maybe you could try it and share your experience here. Also, I'm sorry if I didn't add the .exe of the power button here. I don't know how because this is my FIRST TIME posting a thread anywhere.

Mabuhay kayo! :dinesh:
