Where Is Windows Start On 8?

What I really miss on my Vista is the Start Icon on the bottom left where I can find all my programs and search for anything on my PC.
Where or what is the alternative on W8?
I was trying to shut of my HP Webcam but couldn't figure out where the setting is.

Very simple answer download Classic Shell and set up your desktop just and you did in Vista start button and all. You'll find a setting to not load the metro page at all, you find a setting to turn off all 4 corners. You'll have Vista on Steroids
Oh did I mention its free

after you get it set up you will have to change the default programs to open your programs rather than the Metro Apps email, Acrobat, you'll find which ones you need to change as you go along

If you use gadgets you'll need to download 8Gadgetpack

    Cheers!

Before I download it I wonder if anyone can answer if Windows 10 will bring that option back?

Sort of. Windows 10 has a hybrid Start menu and Start Screen, it looks something like this in build 10061 which is the latest available for W10 testers. Next build is supposed to have Live Tiles like Windows 8/8.1 Start Screen has.

So like Vista I can type in anything and if it's on my PC... it will be listed?

Earlier I was trying to locate my HP webcam setting to turn it off on this laptop running W8 but couldn't find it, (I still haven't)
I tried later with my other PC (running Vista) and it was simple with the Start Search.

You can hit Win+S keys from the desktop to search in Win 8 or, if on the Start Screen, just start typing.

Windows 8/8.1 is a lot more elegant than Vista. You can type your search anywhere on the start page and when you look for All Apps (all Programs), click on the little arrow on the bottom left on the start page.
