Laptop windows 8 problem with internet connection

When I first try to get in to the internet it always comes up with no internet connection. I have to keep restarting it to try and get online and eventually I do. But it can take 15 minutes to finally connect and this morning it took longer. How do I fix this please? Do I need to reboot? If I try and refresh, it takes ages and messes up my files. Help please.

How do you connect to internet?
is it a wireless, cable? do you own network you're connecting to?
have you before been able to successfully connect?

Hi thanks for your reply. I am with sky and use wireless. I am not very computer literate and don't understand the network question.

I am always able to connect eventually but it takes quite a few restarts before I can. Once I am in it's fine - it's just the initial trying to connect. I did try to reboot but it asks questions I don't understand. x

Re:the bolded part of your post above ... perhaps tell us what those questions are. It may help us diagnose your problem
