Hi all,

Does the Windows 8.1 recovery USB recreate the recovery partition (if deleted)?

Thanks.

When you see the question "Do you want to repartition the drives on your PC? All your files will be removed." (see screenshot below), click on "Yes, repartition the drives".

Yes, if you do not receive an error message.

No, if you receive the following error message: "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing." or "Unable to reset your PC. The system drive cannot be found.", then the Windows 8/8.1 recovery USB flash drive is not able to automatically install Windows 8/8.1 to a blank hard drive.

Under, your system uses wimboot, you do not have a recovery partition per say..

But if you have a recovery image partition when you create the recovery USB and then delete the recovery partition..

If you reset from the recovery USB - yes it will re-create the recovery partition..

The whole purpose of creating the recovery usb is to be able to restore the OS to a Bare Metal Drive
