Ok recently finished a pc and installed 8.1. All was fine but aftwr a week or so I noticed when I boot into desktop that fifty percent of my programs would start out as white empty folders and I would have to wait a minute for them to refresh and become normal. If I clicked any program during this time it would'nt load until the refresh. At first this happened 2 out of five boots. Now it's pretty much five out of five times. Help.

Figured i would let anyone who reads this know what i determined. I went ahead and found some tips online to perform a clean boot and windows booted fine so I enabled some services at a time until I pinpointed aomei backupper as the cause. The program is a good program but it seems I'm not the only one with this problem.

OK thanks
. Now I know telling you to defrag won't work, as you use an SSD.
In Task Manager, under the Startup tab, do you have a lot of programs with High in startup impact column? Can you disable/delay any so instead of running at startup they run on demand?
I have an SSD too, but when I used a HDD what slowed my desktop at boot/restart was my USB mobile broadband, the program took too many resources to load at boot, changing it to load a little bit later(delayed) helped.
Do you have AHCI turned on in BIOS for your disks?

Cliff S. Thanks for the pointers yes I have ahci on and I really don't have much at all running at startup . as stated I determined it was aomei backupper causing this by running in safe boot and ruling everything out. Could you take a look at the picture above and see if you can tell what program that is on startup .

Sorry; I have no idea what it is:huh:. Maybe it has to do with one of your startup programs? For example when my mobile broadband software loads, the program takes awhile but the password box just flashes. Does the icon match anything in the startup tab in task manager? or All Apps screen?
