Is stopped. If I Start, it stops again in approximately 30 seconds. ""Startup Type" on General Tab is in "Automatic (Delayed" mode and is "greyed-out" (cannot be changed). Also, "pause" and "resume" are greyed-out" as are the "Log On" and "Recovery" tabs.
Any suggestions ???

Thanks and Best Wishes,

Rick

If you get an error 5 when trying to start it, it means there are permissions corruptions on any of the components/registry keys that that service relies on... you will have to refresh (or restore if you have a restore point) from a USB setup boot (i.e. repair - advanced options).

Why do you need that service running? It stops by itself, when it is no longer needed.

Not Clear ......

It is not clear that it is supposed to be started as needed (although I have seen a few comments to that effect while searching for answers ..... Microsofts' default is "Automatic - Delayed Start" ....... I would assume (it infers) ... that it should be running thereafter ........ I would think that an "as needed" start/stop would be the "manual" start selection ...... however, that selection is "greyed-out" ...... I can't change it ....... does anybody else have a greyed - out (non user adjustment) drop-down menu ?

Automatic services stop, when no longer needed, I believe, it was firstly introduced in Windows 8.
Everyone has grayed out messing up with "essential" Windows services , just like Task Scheduler.

Thanks Tairuku ....... if my profession was as slack as Microsoft, we'd all be in jail. They're going to force me to try Apple.
