How to open .cab and .dmy files in Windows 8

So I got some 35mm film developed in a camera store in Japan and requested them to put the scans onto a CD. Now I'm home I realize that the guy didn't burn the photos as data, but burned it using an old program called Fujicolor CD that I need to run as an .exe in order to view my images. When I run the software it opens okay but won't open the images, every time I press what I believe to be the "start" or "load" button it comes up with an error message (the text in the error message is corrupted so I can't read it, probably because the program is so old and/or made for Japanese versions of Windows). I assume it's telling me the program won't work in Windows 8, because according to the insert in the CD, the program was made for Windows XP/2000 and is probably incompatible with my OS. I've browsed the folders on the CD and found three files that I believe contain the images: 2 .cab files and one .dmy file. The question is, how do I open these with Windows 8? WinRAR won't work. Please help, I really want to see my images! p.s: I'm not so clever when it comes to computer-speak so please dumb it down so I can understand, thank you!

I know 7z works on cab files, not sure about dmy.

How big is the .dmy file? May just be a text file.

The .dmy is 70MB, cab file Data2 is 42MB and Data1 is 550KB. The file specs say they were "last modified" in 2009, but could it be possible that the camera store is using a backdated computer program? Maybe it's wishful thinking but I strongly suspect the photos are on the CD somewhere. Thanks for suggesting 7z, I tried it but the same error came up for all three files: "can not open xx as an archive".

Thanks for helping me KYHI! Unfortunately when I open it with 7 Zip the same error message comes up for all files: ""can not open xx as an archive". Maybe the camera store mistakenly burned only the software and not the photo scans after all
