First Thoughts about Windows 8

This should probably be posted elsewhere on this forum, so apologies in advance.
I've installed the 8250 CP version under VMWare Player and have been experimenting with it for a week or two.
It supports most of my apps and the older ones I have to use VM XP to use anyway, since even Windows 7 doesn't support them.
Yes, the Metro screen and lack of a Start button does come as a bit of a shock at first, but having trawled through this and other forums, I've managed to customize the metro screen the way I like it.
The idea of using the mouse to navigate to the corners of the screen is a bit of a no-no, but I assume M$ designed the interface primarily with touch screens in mind.
I find it fairly easy navigating using keyboard shortcuts, a tad regressive maybe, even going back to DOS days, but I keep reminding myself that this is a beta incarnation.
Tho' not a great fan of M$, I hope they pick up on the views of this and other forums and create a better product than 7 in the final release; a big call in my opinion.

I agree with WHS. With the release candidate less than 2 weeks away, the code is fixed in stone by now except for bug changes.

Actually, Microsoft has said that the Desktop won't the final incarnation of the UI, we'll have to wait until the early fall until the RTM where that will have the final, finished Desktop UI. As for the Start Screen, that's fairly set in stone.
