Got Message that I Cant Rename a File - HELP

I got a message when I tried to rename a file. How can I fix this so that I can be allowed to make changes to the file without any messages? The message is below:

"You need permission to perform this action. You require permission from system to make changes to this file."

Hmm sounds like a system file that is in memory running. You could stop it from running then perhaps you can change it. Otherwise you'll have to take ownership through properties/advanced properties I've had to do the with my systyem32/drivers/etc/Host file. That was just to make changes. I guess though if you are the owner of the file you could change the name of it.

So how do I take ownership?

What file? What is the full path?

Be careful taking ownership of system files as this can cause problems.

Easiest way is to add Take Ownership to the right click context menu: How to "Take Ownership" of a File, Folder, Drive, or Registry Key in Windows 8 and 8.1
