Can I use my Windows 8 key to install 8.1?

I'm downloading a new ISO here:

Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

I really don't feel like installing 8 and downloading 8.1 from the store, and then wait to install 8.1. I'd much rather just create an 8.1 install disc and leave it at that. Problem is, I have no idea if my 8 product key will work with the 8.1 disc. I checked out the product key I'm using now with 8.1 installed, using Magical Jellybean. and it's the same as the 8 key. I just want to make sure.
