Win 8.1-Removing "-Shortcut" text after making a shortcut?

I am currently using Windows 8.1 and am trying to remove the "-Shortcut" text from showing after creating a shortcut. I searched online and tried to edit the registry file as the website instructed to 00 00 00 00, but nothing happened.

Is there any way to remove the text or is it just a Windows 8.1 problem?

That's exactly what I did. It still doesn't work for some reason. Even using the REG file.

Did you restart the computer afterwards?

Just to make sure, it will not remove the "Shortcut" name extension from existing shortcuts. It will only stop it for new ones.

I have restarted twice now and still it doesn't work. I have already tried new shortcuts.

I used WC's Ultimate Windows Tweaker 2 [3 for W8], one of its clicks is to remove "-shortcut" from shortcuts. It has worked for me for some time now. Now, if some other utility or program knocks that click offline, I simply go back in and reclick that option. And Brink is correct, you have to manually adjust all shortcuts before this was invoked, 'cause there is no automatic retro-removal by any such utility or VBS or whatever.

I must admit that I'm not sure why it's not working for you unless you have some sort of all-one utility type program like Roland posted above installed that is overriding the default setting in Windows that the tutorial uses.

Brink, using any number of PC-clean, PC-tune, PC-This-that-theOther to fixAll, cureAll, speedUpAll -- often kills some special settings such as remove "-shortcuts" from shortcuts. Any SRP rollback earlier than removeShortcut click will also kill said remove.
