Does your PC support SATA III (6 Gb/s)? Your speed is about the speed I get with SATA II (3 Gb/s). I have a Samsung 850 EVO 250 Gig.

If you are using Magician and have enabled Rapid mode, I don't know how much faster you realistically can get.

If you haven't enabled Rapid mode yet, do that.

You are focusing on the wrong thing. R/W speed is relatively irrelevant for the OS performance. It is the access time that gives you the boom. And the access time should be 0.1ms +/-

yu gnomi looks like you're spot on. the difference is night and day. before buying i checked a few sites including samsung and the impression i got is that only the migration software was on the disk, so i never looked at the disk. thanks for letting me know otherwise.

i like the extra speed using rapid mode, but i do not like the fact to achieve the extra speed samsung uses ram(20% of my ram to be exact). with rapid mode i went from an average of 280 read to 330 read, but samsung was using my ram to achieve this speed increase. i personally think that this is pure bs especially since i only have 4 gigs and having the drive eat 800 megs of my ram really does a number on system stability, so rapid mode is off as of now. top this off with extremely poor tech support from them when i go to get a 240 gig ssd which is what i really wanted it will be corsair.

I turned on the Rapid Mode. I didn't see any difference in performance on my PC. The only difference I saw was increase in benchmark scores. I turned it off because of the other things it did to my system. It was using almost 2 Gigs of my memory. It turned on Hibernate, and Indexing service, which I had turned off. It changed my Virtual memory setting and my Power options, all of which I didn't like.

I've pretty much been using Rapid mode since I built my PC, so I don't know if taking it out of Rapid mode would noticeably slow anything down. Personally, I don't miss the Ram that gets used. Before I upgraded my Ram, I was usually only using about 60% of my Ram or less. I upgraded my Ram, and now I usually only using about 40% or less.
