Hi,

I am having a Power Calibration Error in IMGBRN when I am trying to burn Ubuntu Desktop onto a DVD and also the same error when I right click and select burn using the default Windows 8.1 feature.

I do not have any IMAPI service in my Services and have tried a high end Verbatim brand DL DVD as well.
I thought that my DVD burner laser is gone even though my laptop is less than 2 months old.
I am burning a CDR through Windows Media Player just fine as I type.
I have also tried the speed written on the disks and also 1x and Auto as well.

Any suggestions?

Using ASUS ROG G751 Series G751JT-CH71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4710HQ (2.50GHz) 16GB Memory 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Newegg.com and trying to Burn Ubuntu Desktop ISO which is less than 1 GB.

Thanks,
DAN

As an alternative, you could make a bootable/installable flash drive using Rufus.

I do this for all my OS install media now instead of DVDs, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 TP plus a few versions of Linux.

Edit: If it's still under warranty, get Acer to replace the optical drive.
