My problems all started when I went through the google chrome options and accidentally deleted Profile 1, which deleted all of my bookmarks, saved passwords, history, and basically everything saved on chrome. In my attempt to rescue all of that information I did a system recovery and restored back to a point a few days ago. This of course did not work since, as I discovered, the restore does not affect personal files. So I just decided to undo the restore and revert back to what I had. All of my chrome information is gone now. HOWEVER, now none of my start up programs actually start now. Many other programs do not function properly, such as adobe reader which freezes and does not respond every two seconds even after installing an update. Chrome is also messed up now and none of the extensions work nor does it save any new settings.
From there I tried to install windows updates and graphics drivers through windows optional and recommended updates. This solved nothing and now all of the sudden itunes does not work and says it has missing files and needs to be re installed.
I have a dell inspiron 17r se and running windows 8. Does anyone know how to fix any this without completely cleaning my hard drive?
