Hello,

All the text is gone in my Metro menu, in the settings et cetera.
When I go to my Desktop, it all works fine. So only the parts that are new in Windows 8 don't work.
I can't do a refresh either, because there's no text and I can't see what I'm clicking on.

http://i46.tinypic.com/ndlugy.png --> here you can see my settings menu. I know I have selected General in the menu on the left, because I know it comes sixth in line (in the menu), but on the right I can't see what I'm doing or clicking on.

So does anyone knows how to fix this?
Thanks very much in advance!

Hi,

Try opening an elevated command prompt then run this command: sfc /scannow

Install latest video card driver for your card.

After those are done, reboot. If that doesn't fix it, recommend clean install.

On the desktop, from an elevated command prompt, i.e. as admin from the rightclick menu in the bottom left corner or hotkey combination win+x, run the command:

sfc /scannow

to run the system file checker - it sounds as if you may have corruption in your system fonts.

If that does not work, the system may require a Refresh.

I thought of you immediately with this. Maybe you can tell him the correct font to put in the folder, if neccessary? I think you mentioned the name of it once.

Not the Seguisys.ttf - I think that is safe, since the tiles are showing the correct symbols - sfc should deal with it.

http://i46.tinypic.com/208jzb6.png <-- too bad, no violations found, as you can see from the image.
And fafhrd, how should I run a refresh? I can't see what I'm clicking on, if you'd like to take a look at this picture:

What do you mean with Seguisys.ttf? Is that a sort of font? Because when I go to my fontmap, it isn't there ..

I think I found it! Segoe WP is used as a font in Windows 8, but that font isn't in my fontmap at all!
So i'm going to download that, and then it should work, shouldn't it?

As your results have shown, yes it should. And by the way, this is the precise font that I intended, that I am sure I seen fafhrd mention before. His mentioning is how I learned of it.

You're welcome.
