Sometimes it says processor0 or processor 1 or processor 2 or processor3 .....
I have had the machine for almost 3 months and the message has been occurring since day 1 in spite of a firmware update from HP in the last scheduled update (a couple of weeks ago).
IS MY ONLY RECOURSE TO LODGE (ANOTHER) COMPLAINT WITH HP ??
My event viewer is a blob of errors and warnings ...... I will try to work on each problem one at a time but I shouldn't have to ............ a new computer with all these software problems speaks of a second-class operating system ....... a beta trial rather than a ready for market product ........ MS takes people's hard earned money and gives them this ?? .......... any "fix-its" or videos on the web are useless as they are constantly changing 8.1 and the choices, options and menus are no longer there when you try to use any help from the web. I will not not continue to be Microsoft's guinea pig ...... an operating system should not be released to the public until functional. If my exerience with WinME had been the same (my first computer), I would have walked away from computers. Most of us are not geeks or hobbyists ...... we have jobs and lives and expect our computers to simply work when we need them ......... AS THEY SHOULD .... what other area besides "computer science" (an oxymoron ) can a product malfunction, screw-up and generally disrupt people's lives for the worse, without any liability ?

Try putting your PC in the High Performance setting in the Power Configuration Menu and see if that makes any difference.

Most every big box retailer will take a return on a PC within 10 days but since you are well past that I think your best and possibly your only option would be to return it to HP for a fix or replacement. I hate to tell you that because I know HP can and usually is a pain in the %$# to deal with but I do think that is your best option unless you want to spend hours trying to diagnose and fix the problem yourself and possibly risk voiding the warranty in the process.

This does not sound like a problem with the operating system (Microsoft} but you might try Microsoft Windows Support. If your PC came with Windows preinstalled you have basically purchased the operating system software license from Microsoft so they might be able to help you determine if it is a hardware or software problem. If your PC came with Windows 8 and you upgraded to 8.1 there could be issues related to that upgrade and possibly a compatibility issue with the hardware as well.

You might also try the HP Support Forum

Sorry I don't have better answers for you.

A lot of the machines being rolled out now, were only manufactured with Windows 7 in mind. Basically they pull the Windows 7 machines from stock and install Windows 8 and mark them as Windows 8 machines.

Either an update that was installed by Microsoft/Windows update fubared the machine, or it is one of those as I stated above.
