Hi guys,
I got a brand new Toshiba Satellite p50t-B01E 2 days ago, runnings windows 8.1. You can see the specs of it here: PSPNVA-01E00N - Toshiba Satellite P50 Computer - Australia :: Toshiba :: Computers, Laptops/Notebooks, Tablets, Televisions, DVD and Blu-Ray Players, Camcorders, Storage, Accessories, and more
I have only installed about 3-5 programs, and you can see at that link it is a very powerful machine so I don't know what the issue is. Right now it is fine as I'm only running chrome. But when I open photoshop or another program everything becomes VERY slow, glitchy and has recently started to freeze and I can't click anything or even get into my task manager (task manager screen doesn't even load, it just turns black and gives me an error then returns to my desktop).
I closed a few things, restarted and then finally got task manager to open only to discover my disk is at 99%?? With only one program open! Here is a quick video of what my task manager looks like... disk problem - YouTube
In this video, at around 1:56 in, you can see a Norton popup in the right bottom corner. This said "High usage by Host Process for Windows" or something like that. I can see this in task manager but I'm not sure what it is and if I should terminate it or not? It seems to just run on it's own, so I imagine it's important? But is there a safe way to disable it without harming my machine?
It's getting quite annoying. I bought this thing for it's power and that is something I am definitely NOT getting. Please if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated (btw I've already tried disabling the "super tech" and "windows search" services which is a potential fix floating around the net for this problem, but it unfortunately did not fix mine)
Regards,
Bec
