Trouble with Netflix and Hulu online

I upgraded to windows 8.1 about a year ago, and I just now started to have trouble with Netfix online. I never bother with the apps, because they never worked. So I was content going online for the services. But now it seem I have ran into some trouble playing steaming movie. The message I get when using Firefox is as posted below.

But when I use Internet Explorer I receive a this message.

I called Netfix they told me to call Microsoft, so I called Microsoft and the recording referred to support.Microsoft.com. All this started right after several windows updates. I don't know enough to correct the problem. Can you please help.

Try Chrome. You need Silverlight installed to watch in FireFox. Also you have to do it from the Desktop mode, not the Metro mode if you are going to watch movies inside the browser.

I have Opera & sometimes I get an oops message.
I suspect Silverlight gets stuck or something.
I don't worry about it.
I try to keep Silverlight updated.
