    Notification area icons keep disappearing...

I customise which Notification Area icons I want to see permanently on the taskbar. However, after every reboot, all disappear into the hidden box except the battery, internet connection and sound icons. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe this batch file will help.
    or not.
It won't hurt to try it.
It takes about 2 hours to run.
I usually let it run in the background.

    Download it.
    Unblock it.
Right click it & choose Run as administrator.

    dism.bat

If you view it in Notepad you will see this---

Thanks David Bailey. I will give it a go. Before I do though could you explain 'Unblock it' please? Also, how will I know when it has finished?

    Hello Rafikiphoto.

In addition, you might see if resetting the notification area icons may help if they may be corrupted.

I ran dism.bat and it did find errors, some of which it could not repair apparently. When the exercise finished I rebooted but, unfortunately, the notification icons disappeared again. I have since had success. I set all icons to show by checking the box in the customize area, rebooted then unchecked that box again and only my preferred icons remained. A reboot shows them again. Thanks to you both for your input.

I am a little concerned that dism reported errors it could not fix. Would it be worth running dism.bat again?
