mouse beeps when I click

This seems to happen on my desktop only sometimes after I have remoted into my desktop using remote desktop (tongue twister?).

It used to be that it would beep whenever I move the mouse or click buttons. Clicks weren't registered. The only way to fix it was to logoff and log back on. I finally got fed up with this, and did a refresh (I am running Windows 8.1 Pro).

I got most of my apps reinstalled, and life was good. Well, today this problem is back, but slightly different--it only beeps when I click buttons on my mouse. I can't log off for several hours because I'm in the middle of rendering video. This is extremely irritating. Any ideas on this? I'm currently using mouse keys to do the clicking for my mouse until I have time to log off.

This problem is kind of difficult to explain, so if you need more clarification, please ask.

even so, when I click on something, the clicks don't register. It beeps, and then behaves as if I never clicked, right clicked, or anything.

Smells like a driver issue. Suggestion: Try plugging in a second mouse. Maybe then the right driver will 'catch' and the mouse will work fine.

Same problem happens to me. After being remoted into the computer, I log into it locally and when ever I click I get a beep. The clicks don't register. I'm on windows 8.1. Resolved after sign out and sign back in.
Are you running synergy, tightvnc, or ultramon?
