Hi! I recently installed Windows 8 Pro on my ancient Acer Aspire 4736 laptop. Was actually an in-place upgrade, it had been running Windows 7 Ultimate before. So installed some updates. After installing them, I noticed that when I entered the PC info page (or system properties), Explorer crashes. I searched the problem in the internet, and I found out that I should remove the KB2871389 update. It worked, but I'm not happy.

Is there anyway that I could install the said update but get no more crashes from the said situation?

PS just reply the files I'll need to be uploading. Thanks:)

You could try running sfc /scannow as admin, then use DISM command, run sfc /scannow again(atleast 3 times) follow the instructions in the tutorial below, then download the update and install. If you have any third party Anti Virus program installed, just uninstall them and use windows defender temporarily.

Should I run the sfc /scannow command at boot, at safe mode, or just normally?
