    I cannot "TRUST" pc

    Greetings folks,

I have just installed Windows 8 on my mother's PC and am attempting to TRUST the PC. I go through the process and it tells me to enter the last 4 digits of my mother's old mobile. My nephew now has my mother's old mobile. No problem, luckily I still know the number. So I enter the number and it tells me to enter the code sent to the mobile. So I phone my sister and ask her to tell me the code. I enter the code and it is still not trusted. I attempt to use one of your tutorials to "TRUST" this PC and get "You can't do that again just yet
As you've recently recovered your security info, we'll prevent you from marking it as lost for 30 days. This is to prevent someone else who may have access to it from locking you out of your account.
Click "Cancel" to go back to what you were doing."

I haven't recovered any bloody info. I'm beginning to lose patience with this crap. What can I do?

I'm wondering whether I should just bypass that and create a local account for my mother to use as I understand the sync stuff is all linked to the Microsoft account.

The process should give you a choice of text or email to receive a Code.

    Greetings Edwin,

I have a text code, but it is connected to my nephew's phone. I should be in possession of it tomorrow and will try the process again. If I select the other option I receive Click image for larger version ,so haven't a clue what happened there.

Is this Windows 8 or Windows 8.1?

Windows 8 had a few problems. I couldn't trust my PC either, After waiting a week, I checked it and it was finally trusted.

I've had no problems trusting my PC on Windows 8.1. I think they fixed that issue in 8.1. If its on 8.1 that you are having the issue, then that would be strange, but there are probably others having the same troubles.

You may be getting that message if your Microsoft account was ever hacked or compromised at some point. A friend of mine had a Microsoft account that wouldn't work. Kept on having security errors, saying he needed to change security settings before it would work. He ended up creating a new account and shut the old one off. He has no problems now.

It's funny you should mention that. It was Windows 8. Then I installed 8.1 and it has now switched to Verify PC instead of Trust. I will give it a few days, as it's not that important. It's my mother's PC and she isn't a heavy PC user, just checks her emails occasionally and the fact that it isn't Trusted doesn't seem to have affected receiving emails.

Glad to hear. I had a feeling it would eventually verify. Cheers.
