So, When I go into my downloads folder on my computer, there is a folder called N_files that is listed as "modified earlier this month". It contains a whole bunch of files that look like this: imgur: the simple image sharer, as well as a little facebook icon picture, and then what looks like small, 1 KB pictures of what appears to be all my facebook friends as well as many people I don't recognize. The thing is the files are so small I can't zoom in without seeing a blob of pixels. I'm not going to share The whole folder for obvious privacy reasons, but I will share this screenshot: imgur: the simple image sharer

I suspect that this is something you download from Facebook. Log into your account and do a search for N_files and see what turns up.

Most likely an app. Facebook does not normally download anything to your computer when browsing the website.

The folder called N_files is an orphan folder.

Typically, when a hypertext-markup file is saved, "N.htm", a folder, N_files, is created to hold the data necessary to recreate the hypertext-markup file.

Not all file managers are created equal. Some file managers, while moving hypertext-markup files, leave the accompanying folders behind, making them 'orphans'. The hypertext-markup file, without the accompanying (beautician's) folder, is just a .txt file by any other name with none of the beautician's touchups.
