Maybe you should have caught part of the briefing, or read some of the post on Tenforums.

Win10 will be offered as an upgrade to Win7 and Win8.1 users FREE of all charges for the life of the device.
This is a limited time offer: RTM -> 1 year.

I know some folks who did not pay to upgrade from Win7 to Win8 - all legal & valid licenses.
    So no, we all didn't.

MS charged $0 - $15 to OEMs for Win 8.0 - Win8.; I don't know how that translated in cost to the consumer. So if you were in the market to purchase new equipment, the upgrade to Win8.0 / Win8.1 was nil or minimal.

Just thought I'd mention some things you might have missed.

What does cabushe mean? Camping in a yurt?

Okay guys, hope I did not burst a conflict right here :P. I'll try to get some more information about the consumer edition, because that's the one who interests me the most, not the tehnnical one. Thank you again for everyone's support!

    No conflict - burst away!

The January release of Win10 is still a Technical Preview (alpha) - that is currently scheduled to end 15 April.
The recent news is that there are Technical Preview releases planned for the next 3-5 months.
The Consumer Preview (beta) timeframe hasn't been publicly discussed. Given the extra 2 months tacked on to the Technical Preview, that is understandable. Internal schedules can be adjusted as needed, once you go public - it's all hell if you don't meet that schedule.

So, right now it looks as though the Consumer Preview will be released in late April or early May. It could be late June or early July if the extra months are deemed necessary.

That's about all the real information I have - schedules probably won't change much. There are other industries (Computer Mfr, Retail, part suppliers) that are all building schedules for the Win10 release as well.

Best guess for the Win10 RTM is late October or late December. it's only a guess though.
