Hello John,

If you still have the .reg file you merged, then you could upload it in a reply here. I'll be happy to take a look at it, and see about posting back with a .reg file to reverse it.

Otherwise, you could also do a system restore using a restore point dated before you merged the .reg file to undo it.

Brink, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your assistance!

For 2 New Buttons (Via Merging the Text Below into Registry) on Windows File Explorer: CopyTo, MoveTo

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\CopyTo]
@="{C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13} "

; Created by Guy Thomas. Windows 8.1 "Copy To" shortcut.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\MoveTo]
@="{C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13} "

; Created by Guy Thomas. Windows 8.1 "Move To" shortcut.

P.S. I merged these two items over 5 months ago, so a lot has changed since - so had I remembered (usually do!) 1st - to fully export the register/ create a restore pt to promptly restore once I realized how non-user-friendly these two buttons behave. Instead, simply right-click filename(-s via Shift/Ctrl key) -> drag to destination -> select OS-provided options: Q.E.D.

Here's the .reg file attached below that will remove those two context menu items from your registry. :)

This is the contents of the .reg file:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\CopyTo]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\MoveTo]

Brink,

your remove.reg file only inactivated (grayed out) these two buttons/ icons at the top of File Explorer. :-(

The .reg file you merged only added "Copy To" and "Move To" to the context menu of files like our tutorial below.

Context Menu - Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder - Windows 7 Help Forums

The .reg file I posted above will only remove what the .reg file you merged added.

This doesn't affect the "Move to" and "Copy to" buttons in the ribbon of File Explorer. You would need to have a file selected before they are no longer grayed out like below though. Is it working for you like this?

OK, now I understand.

So the CopyTo & MoveTo icons/ buttons/ options have ALWAYS existed in the ribbon from day one via Win8?

Yep, they've been in the ribbon by default from day one. :)

I have both a Win 8.1 laptop & a now-dead Win 7 Pro desktop. Perhaps the Win 7 File Explorer doesn't have these two command icons.

If I were able to add a new command icon to the ribbon, then I suppose that I would also need to specify an icon-graphics pix file and its width/ size in said ribbon.

Yep, Windows 7 doesn't have a ribbon in Windows Explorer like 8 does in File Explorer. The free program Classic Shell has a feature to add this in Windows 7 if you like.

"The .reg file you merged only added "Copy To" and "Move To" to the context menu of files like our tutorial below. "

You mean a right-click option on a filename?
