    Cannot install *.msi files

Hi, i've got Windows 8 installed on my laptop.

I tried to install a *.msi file yesterday and my computer tried to open it with "free zip viewer" instead of installing it.
So i tried to open the .msi file with msiexec.exe using the "open with..."command but I got a message error
(i'm translating it from italian, so words may not be the same)
"it's impossible to associate the selected program to this kind of file. Select another program"

It acts like this with every .msi file.

    What can i do?

Thank you in advance for your support

    thank you for your answer.
I tried to install Windows installer (Windows 6.0 version,I hope is the correct one...) but it gives me this error:
0x80096002 "The certificate for the signer of the message is invalid or not found".
Do you think some system file is corrupted?

    Something is wrong.

I never had any trouble with .msi files.

Maybe running, in administrator cmd prompts---

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    &

    sfc /scannow

    would help.
