A new folder view?

Well hello!

Recently, I've been noticing a trend. It seems like Microsoft might be pushing a new folder view.

In your Hotmail or Windows Live account, if you have an email with a photo attached to it, it shows the photo with a little transparent black bar on the bottom of the photo with the name of it. In the SkyDrive, on thumbnail view, when you have folders of pictures; it has the name of the folder on a photo that is inside the folder and it kind of has a random live slideshow of it too. Along with that, it also shows how many items are in that folder. Even with Bing, Microsoft's search engine, it does that too with trending topics and videos.

In Windows 8, from the File Picker View, it has the same thing. A picture or folder has the transparent black bar on the bottom with the title of it.

I think, by the Release Preview, there might be a new folder view for Windows Explorer. A folder of pictures will have a little transparent black on the bottom of it with the name. A file's thumbnail view will be like that too. Since Microsoft is in to the same UI experience throughout their products, this may be true.

This is true, but when you change your folder view to large icons or thumbnail view, you still have a little folder icon there. I think that will be gone by Windows 8.
