Are you talking about hiding the icons on the desktop? You can already do that in Win 8.x so no need for it to be added.

I like it better in the older style of XP and Vista with hidden icons taskbar siding cross, and the new style hidden icons is to me is annoying to click on a up point arrow. I would like both styles features add, the old and new.

I think the OP would like to have a choice between this:

I didn't know what op was talking about either ,but thanks to Edwin now I do ,I never used hidden icons in winxp always turned off one I didn't want running at start-up , there for I only ever had 2or3 showing down by the clock .
now with win8.1 I do the same thing ,only antivirus \spyware programs running at startup,so I still don't need hidden icons ,I know ,"who gives a fugg"

Oh don't don't be so hard on yourself. My PC is powerful enough to leave even the things I'm not using very often but I keep them hidden so I have more room on my taskbar for Bing Desktop search box:

I'm going to vote 'No', mainly because MS has enough on their 'plate' for now. Maybe an idea for the future.
