You can not merge it. Right click on it and try to shrink it to about 350MB.

Another solution: Um. 55GB (yes, GB) System Reserved Partition?! Solved

I would bet that 18GB partition has your - windowsRE (Recovery Tools) - Factory Recovery Image - System Reserve and Boot Files..

right click start flag, open command prompt admin, type> reagentc /info

you will see a listing for windowsRE location and one for image - most likely both are on partition 1

    Attachment 55998

If you want to see what is there> from command prompt
    type> disk[art
    type> select disk 0
    type> list partition
    type> select partition 1
    type> assign letter=s

what is in that temp folder?

and what is in the recovery folder?

    Windows Recovery is disabled..

You do not have a registered winre or a registered recovery image

Also now that you can see and have a drive letter assigned - once you reboot it may lose that drive letter because of the partition ID

ok, you have no recovery image.. that partition only needs to be 450MB

you can delete the temp folder as it is just old logs.

    at command prompt(admin) type> reagentc /enable

and then post a shot of > reagentc /info

although you may need to reboot to take affect

If your RE info did not change the windowsRE location to to globalroot yada yada

    type> C:\Windows\System32\Reagentc /Setreimage /Path F:\Recovery\WindowsRE /Target C:\Windows

That command will register the windows recovery tools..

I also assume you have a lot of free space in that partition - you can then use a program "EaseUS Partition Master"

to resize partition 1 down to 450MB and then resize partition 2 to fill the new unused space created by resizing partition 1
