I noticed you inquired about windows media and doing a clean install - that is another option to fix this issue - but will wipe all your hard drive data

do you still have that partition visable? if not re-assign the letter F and run that command

    first type> reagentc /enable

I did not see that you typed that command

    I just noticed.. You did..

    You have no recovery tools..

That is just system (boot) partition and it only needs to be 100MB

If it where me - I would opt for the last resort.. and get a good setup..

Install windows, install MFG drivers - create a custom refresh image

Install my programs - create another custom refresh image.

save both custom images to a USB in different folders - and use those Images (1 clean and 1 loaded) as recovery images.

and then you won't have this much of an issue again..

Refresh Windows 8 - Create and Use Custom Recovery Image

Sounds like a good plan...and i may just do that. Laptop has been booting slower lately. Thanks for your time so far.
Did I get the results you expected, i may have got the screen shots out of order. Do you think i could shrink that partition, and add to my c drive?

That command will register the windows recovery tools..

I also assume you have a lot of free space in that partition - you can then use a program "EaseUS Partition Master"

to resize partition 1 down to 450MB and then resize partition 2 to fill the new unused space created by resizing partition 1
Do I need to concern myself with that command....I get windows "The specified path was not found".

no you just do not have an on disk recovery option - many windows version didn't.. You will use the windows 8.1 setup media instead..

the partition program will not allow you shrink the partition to small anyway..

Have you pulled the properties of that partition?

    used space and free space

One of my favorite features of Windows Explorer was that it told me the free disk space in the status bar. Since Windows Vista, you also had the ability to see the free space on hard drives across the network. Now in Windows 8 you can't even in the least see the free space on the status bar of...
