Hp laptop Windows 8 Boot Loop

    Hello-

I decided to sell my laptop because I'm going on deployment soon, and I did a factory restore to wipe it clean.. Now when I go to turn it on it shows the HP logo says diagnosing system and repairs, then restarts its self.. It is stuck in an infinite loop. I can't even push any keys to enter the BIOS. No keys do anything. Is there anything I can do to make this stop? Hp Laptop windows 8.

Another option is to order a set of factory recovery media and try it again with that. They'll likely charge you a fee for it and you'll have to wait for it to be shipped to you. Me personally, I'd rather do a clean install like caperjack suggested. It's always nice to have options though.

You may take a try to use the power button to restart your computer three times. This will start the Windows Recovery Environment. See information here: Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode) - Windows Help

At there take use of refresh again,

before you download and do a clean install

Don't have a key or just don't know what it is? If it's an embedded OEM key, the install media from option one in the link caperjack posted will read it and use it automatically during install. Even 8.0 OEM keys. You don't need to know what it is. You do need to know what version of 8.1 to install though. It has to match the factory installed version for the embedded key to work correctly.

I don't have my box or papers the computer came with, which has they key... I bought it oem with 8 on it.. So the BIOS saves the key? I burnt 8.1 onto a disk but it's not working still stuck in a boot loop.

On systems with Windows 8 installed at the factory, the OEM key is stored in the BIOS. Windows 8 install media is coded to look for it and use it automatically. The caveat with option one, Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help is you have to install the correct version. If the PC came with Pro you need to install Pro to use the embedded key. If it came with only Core you have to install Core etc. When I say Core I mean just the non Pro version of 8.1. Yours is most likely Core. If it is Pro the sticker on the bottom of the PC should say Windows 8 Pro. The download in the link I posted will install and activate with Windows 8.0 keys and 8.1 keys.

To get out of the boot loop try this: Power down > unplug the power pack and remove the battery > then press and hold down the power button for about 5 seconds. Now plug the power pack back in, battery too if you want, then power up and press the key to access your BIOS. Have your install media plugged and see if you can boot from it.

Just to also add, when I downloaded the windows 8.1 ISO file the first options asked for language, Edition, and Architecture.. I picked English, 8.1, and 64 Bit.

I looked up the model number on my laptop. 15-e012nr and saw it was 64 bit.

I'm confused with all the options for windows 8.1.. I don't know if i picked the right one.. Theres' 8.1, 8.1N, 8.1N Pro, 8.1 Pro, 8.1 Single Language. And like i said i just picked the 8.1 option. I then burnt it to a DVD, I put it in my other laptop, and fired it up, and nothing happened just did it's usual loop.. turned it off tired it again, and still no luck. It's not acknowledging the disk.
