    Command prompt flashed once

    Hello,

While typing up an assignment, I just barely noticed that command prompt opened and then closed for a fraction of a second. I am extremely cautious with the files I download, and instantly performed a scan with malwarebytes. It detected nothing, so I performed a second scan with Malwarebytes Anti-rootkit, which also found nothing.

Is it possible that a driver/legitimate program was the cause of this? I have been using this computer for over a year, and this is the first time I've witnessed such an occurrence. It has only happened once (so far), but I will surely update my post if it happens again.

    Any information is appreciated.

It is quite possible for driver or even a program to display command prompt. Specially drivers, they work on very low level and any hick-up may show prompt for short time.

Thanks so much for the quick response.

Your answer has definitely provided me with the reassurance I was looking for, so thank you for that.

No problem it happens more often than you may think, it just happens to fast to display it to be able to see. Maybe you should check your startup programs to see if there's anything interfering.

It just happened again -- should I be concerned? Note: it did not happen at the same time as last night.

I have no unusual programs in my startup list. I did just recently start using iTunes again, which also installed a QuickTime program. Maybe it is related to one of those?

Could be, until you actually see what's on the screen, you can't be really sure. Can try disabling them for a while and see.

Is there anyway for me to pause command prompt when it opens (by default)? It flashes so quickly that it is literally impossible to read it by normal means.

I don't know, maybe Pause/Break button ? You can check with "Event Viewer" immediately after you notice and maybe something will show up about it.
