    Thanks for sharing these instructions, which I followed to the letter and added the "Take ownership". I use the new menu on the Windows/System32/drivers/etc folder. Notwithstanding, as I try to save the hosts file on Windows/System32/drivers/etc it responds "Denied access" and does not allow to save it. I also tried to change its Properties, and I did but with no avail, no effect whatsoever. It just offers the alternative to save it as a .txt in Documents. Kindly assist...

    Windows 3.1 > Windows 10

    here is the easiest way to export your system drivers..

    DISM /Online /Export-Driver /Destination:C:\drivers

    create a drivers folder on your c drive and run the above command, this will export all the driver inf files, copy that to usb, install windows and if needed point to that usb drivers folder

    my question is to solve how to save an edited hosts file in Sytem32/drivers/etc folder - not to export the drivers

    Well it was easier than expected. I just copied the hosts file to desktop, edited, and copied it as administrator to the System32/drivers/etc folder. It worked!
