Thanks everyone for your responses. To clarify, I'm not dual booting Linux.

Here's the problem in a nutshell:

    1. If I set the clock, it will remain correct until the computer is powered down or hibernating. Then the clock is frozen in time until I start it up again. This doesn't appear to be a daylight savings or time zone issue. The date and time settings both are off by the length of time that the computer is powered down/hibernating.

    2. When I went into BIOS, the seconds on the clock were not advancing on the BIOS screen. I'm not sure if this is a salient point or not.

Thanks again for everyone's suggestions. If this is as simple as a CMOS battery issue, that would be a relatively simple fix. What I'm having trouble figuring out is whether this is a known problem that was rectified in the motherboard's firmware updates?

My advice would be to replace the CMOS battery first. I have seen this cause your problem more than once on my own computers. Everything else together is much less likely. If the battery does not solve the problem other possibilities can be investigated. A BIOS update is not something to be taken lightly.

The bios not keeping time is most definitely the problem, all 5 of my computers keep the correct time in the bios, whether showing seconds or only minutes. When you resume from sleep or hibernate windows should reset the time within a minute or less. If you haven`t done it yet, set the bios to defaults and go from there. As mentioned the battery is most likely the culprit, check and make sure it`s seated properly.

Yea, don't care how new a MB is, can still be a bad battery. Lol, nice visual David!
