Forgot to back up email when downgrading from w8.1 to w8

After many issues with Windows 8.1, I downgraded to Windows 8. I forget to back up email accounts & messages. Is there any way to get these back into Windows Live Mail?

hello and welcome to eightForums . me thinks you are out of luck ,whats gone is gone .But I also think when you manually put the accts back into Live Mail. any emails that are save on the Email Server will download again ,but that I think depends on the mail server ,it it set to keep emails on sever for a period of time .again iam not 100% sure on this ,I do use live mail ,but don't remember what happens when I do format and reload windows ,and setup live mail again .I started backing up my accts and messages the past 2years ,so as I said I forget what actually happens when I setup the accts again . good luck

I think most of it will be related to deleted accts ,not lost accts by changing windows versions .
What process did you use to get back to win8


this link has a program to help recover email and it mentions formats .likely not a free app though

yeah ,don't think that cover email programs

If you refresh your PC then it should preserve your data. Chances that your email messages are still there.
Look in C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

I said what I said based on a refresh I once did and the live mail program had to be reinstall [to the best of my memory anyway],never thought of looking around for the emails ,

Thanks topgundcp, I can find the folder C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail but aren't sure what I'm looking for within that folder, any suggestions?!

All your email messages + Accounts that you've created are stored in this folder. All you need to do is to re-install WLM then you should be able to sign in your account(s) and read the messages.

You shouldn`t be using any local email account, you should be using your ISP mail program or something like yahoo, you can look at your mail from any pc anywhere in the world and never loose anything
