Has anyone bought a Surface for their kids? The SP3 is a little out of my price range. Would appreciate any experienced suggestions from parents..

She plays a few online games like Animal Jam, Club Penguin, and Roblox. She currently has a laptop but always seems to get adware, hijackers, and other nonsense.. Is the surface just as prone to all that?

Thanks..

The adware, highjackers, etc. is not a problem of the device but a problem of the setup and the usage. Get a good AV program (at least MSE) and this program for the adware.

AdwCleaner Download

With any other Windows device including a Surface you will have the same problem. For a kid I would suggest to look into an Android device (e.g. a Nexus 7 or 10). Unlikely you get those kinds of problems with Android plus there are a lot more Android kids games (from the Google playstore) then for Windows.

Btw - if you are talking about the cheap Surface - that is a RISC machine. Windows x86 programs do not run on it. x86 is the architecture for windows PCs and laptops. So the programs the kid is running on the laptop will not run on that Surface.
