Computer Repair Under Warranty Question?

  1. #11

Oh okay. Well, I like Acer. We have 3 computers that are Acers. 2 are laptops, and the one that's in the shop is a desktop. The laptops run Windows 7 Home Premium and the desktop runs Windows 8.1. Never had any trouble out of Acer. This is my first one that's had to go to the shop to be fixed. We had a Dell desktop with Windows Vista that we had issues with from the start. I just hope they get my issues resolved with this new one.

They will reset it regardless of why it was sent in for repair. Unless its painfully obvious what's broken. As far as I know its SOP to do that. It eliminates anything the owner may have done to cause the issue its being returned for. It eliminates any third party utilities or programs the owner installed. It that doesn't fix the issue they just keep working on it until they fix it or replace it under warranty. It's quicker and easier for them to do it and it gives then a know set of circumstances to start from.

Acer use to send owners a empty box with shipping prepaid for warrantee work . guess they gave that up
also I find it strange that they consider a sleep under issue warrantee

Caperjack, they must have. FedEx just emailed me saying they picked it up. It is in Eastaboga, Alabama right now. I have requested email alerts on the shipment process. As I said before, I am nervous about it being shipped to a different state. Texas is a long ways from Alabama. I just want it fixed, and that's all.

It should be in Texas by tomorrow. It's most recent location was Kennesaw, Georgia.

Caperjack, why do you find it strange that the sleep issue is covered under warranty? I may have forgot to add this, but it also takes a long time for it to shut down. It also boots in restart mode (that's what I think). It beeps on startup, because it doesn't shut down right. It has an American Megatrends BIOS, and they said if the computer beeps on startup, then there is a problem. It didn't do this when we first got it. But, a lot of people are reporting that it's a Windows 8.1 update issue. Acer said it was definitely a hardware problem, so I don't know. I hope they can fix it.
