Hiya this is my first post so if I screwed up I apologize in advance.

I was recently given a Toshiba Satellite L875d-S7377 because my friend had bough themselves a new laptop and they didn't need this one anymore, me being without a laptop, they gave it to me. When I got the laptop, the touchpad didn't work, and even after installing the drivers it still did not work. That's issue number one.
Then I decided to reset Windows and the PC back to factory settings because it had a bunch of random files that weren't mine and some programs I didn't like and that sort of thing. After doing so, now the screen brightness won't change either. The brightness option in the charms menu is grayed out and it says "Windows can't adjust the brightness on this display." At the time I'd had TeamViewer installed so I could control it with my tablet, but upon uninstalling it, and restarting the machine, the problem persisted. I have gone into the Device Manager menu and uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the display both from the PC and online (Display is listed as AMD Radeon HD 7520G (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.20)). I went through the Action Center into a Troubleshooting box, where Windows did locate the issue but was unable to solve it, this was what it told me:

At this point I have no idea what to do, and would be fairly grateful if someone has any sort of idea what to do about this issue, for the touchpad I do have a wireless mouse so that's not a huge issue, but for the screen it's fairly frustrating.

Does your Satellite have a program called Toshiba Service Station? Mine does. It searches the Toshiba website for updates (drivers, BIOS, etc.) for your specific model, and also provides alerts for known issues.

There doesn't seem to be a listing on the Toshiba website for a L875D-S7377 but there is a listing for a L875-S7377 (no D). Have you tried using the drivers from Toshiba? See here: Drivers & Software Support | Toshiba

The computer on the Toshiba website is the same laptop, for whatever reason they sometimes list with or without the D... I have been through the Toshiba website, and none of the drivers will download much less install.
I did install the AMD driver identifier and it supposedly installed the new drivers, however I can't edit the backlight brightness, which is the issue, just the basic brightness, contrast and such...
It does have the service station, but it claims there aren't any updates to be had.
I'm having issues updating Windows as well, I'd like to update to 8.1 but it won't download the updates from PC Settings or the other option through the control panel. (Because the OS has to be updated before it'll allow update to 8.1)
