You get an Explorer folder with All Apps. You can sort them by name to have alphabetical order and make a List view for more clarity. Then you get this:

That would be a handy folder for easy access to All Apps. Problem is that it does not keep the 'sort by name' and 'List' setting. Any time you reopen it, it reverts back to the old unordered setting with large icons.

If anybody figures out a way to make the settings stick, that would be nice.

Hello Wolfgang,

It does the same for me with opening the Apps folder from this location as well. Odd thing is that it will remember if you have any of the "Organize -> Layout" panes turned on or off next time.

It is anyhow a bit strange. The Explorer window is some kind of retarded Win7 version in lieu of a Win8 version with the ribbon.

The folder would be handy, but making the settings all the time is a pain.

It is the shortcut attributes that are responsible for setting the way the explorer folder opens. You will have to fool with the shortcut.

My take on this tweak? Stick with the Metro page which you can order and is not filled with APP CRAP.

Win8 Dictionary:
APP CRAP - the dozens of icons created in the Metro Start Page by installing a program or app. These include uninstall, register, help, information, history and other useless icons from the program.

It took me a while to delete the app crap from the Metro Start Page. The tweak still has all of them laying around. Not a good substitute for the Metro page.

Understand. But they would be easy to delete on the tweak too. The advantage of the tweak is alphabetic order. I'll have a look what I can do with the attributes. Thanks.

Whs, no can do to "delete" the tweaks in the folder. Try a right click on one of them to see your choices. The only thing that comes close is uninstall and that takes you to the uninstall page of Windows. No, I think the app crap is pretty much stuck there with no way to get rid of them.

Yeah, I guess you are right. Can't win. Even 'uninstall' does not work. Nice idea but not too practical.
