I just downloaded the memtest 86 & made a bootable usb & tested it following the instructions I provided & it worked.

Just a thought, The test messed up my computer & I had to use my Macrium image to fix it.

EDIT--- It also made my computer run hot.

I had run Memtest86+ after I received my brand new laptop in March. Read few articles about the necessity of running it in a new laptop for ruling out unstable ram along with other stress testing tools such as Prime95, AIDA64 etc.

I have to say this those stress testing days were really scary, the thing almost burnt up my system - though nothing happened ultimately
The laptop was heating up like anything with CPU, graphic stress test and memtest86+. I didn't sleep actually, was continuously monitoring the temp and results.

Memtest86+ ran continuously for 6+hrs (overnight), no problems.

Then I got to read through this forum that these testings are only needed if the hardware is not working as expected. And real life results may not be the same even after stress test.

PassMark MemTest86 - Memory Diagnostic Tool - Technical Information

    What's New in Version 5?

    Support for Secure Boot.
So there is no need to change UEFI settings.

Create a bootable USB Flash drive:

    1. Download the Windows MemTest86 USB image.
    2. Right click on the downloaded file and select the "Extract to Here” option. This places the USB image and imaging tool into the current folder.
    3. Run the included imageUSB tool, it should already have the image file selected and you just need to choose which connected USB drive to turn into a bootable drive. Note that this will erase all data on the drive.

    Good thinking

As David suggested there's a Windows Memory diagnostic tool, I think it could be accessed by typing mdsched.exe in Run program, not sure though. I did it once before - it went through 2 passes or so.
