    Continuous Beeping and Laggy Mouse

Hello people of eightforums, I'm having a little bit of a problem with my computer atm and I'm hoping you guys can help. Every once in a while my computer will start beeping repeatedly from the speakers but only when the mouse is moved. If the mouse is still there is no beeping. Also the cursor on screen moves in a choppy motion and it won't let you click on anything. I can still navigate via keyboard, but not mouse.

I checked the event viewer and the only thing out of place is the igfx display driver failing and rebooting successfully. I have the most up to date drivers and this has only started happening recently. Anybody encounter this before?

Happened again today. I tried another mouse, but it still beeps. Also tried different ports, and that didn't work.

When it beeps, how many beeps do you get and are the long or short

I suggest you perform hardware tests on your computer.

Beeps from the speaker or beeps from the PC tower? If it's beeps from the PC speaker my guess is its the new hardware detected beep and the mouse is cutting in and out. To confirm open control panel and go to Sound, Then click the Sounds tab. Now you can click test for Device Disconnect and Device Connect, and see if that's what your hearing. If its a beep coming from the motherboard that's a BIOS error code. It will be a pattern of long and short beeps. Once you know what the pattern is and what BIOS you have you can look it up.

The beeps are relatively short and is definitely coming through the speakers. It's a different sound than the hardware connect/disconnect sound. It's basically a pure sine tone for maybe half a second. If you move the mouse cursor it beeps repeatedly, and if you click it will beep with each click. I should mention I tried all ports with 3 different mice. Thanks for the help guys.

That's a new one on me? Is there anything consistent your doing just before this happens, like playing a game?

The only program that's been consistently open is Google Chrome. Not a specific page or anything, and I've tried ending Chrome via task manager just using keyboard input, but ending the process doesn't stop the beeping. I've also tried ending pretty much every other program I could think of besides system processes.

Are you running any keyboard remapping programs, or something similar? Corded USB mouse? Corded USB keyboard?

Using a usb keyboard and mouse. There's software for controlling the dpi on the mouse, but I tried ending the process and it still happened.
